Langman partners with Dedes for 1st July Deckhouse launch
Sydney's newest waterfront venue and the latest venture for one of the most recognised names in the Australian marine business and offshore racing scene will open tomorrow, 1 July 2010 on the waterfront at Woolwich Dock.
Sean Langman, best known for breaking all the rules with the Open 66 Xena and more recently, as the skipper of the 100 foot supermaxi Investec LOYAL, which is currently being tweaked for the upcoming Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, is the managing director of Noakes Group which has partnered with Sydney restaurateur Con Dedes to this week open the doors of Deckhouse.
"I feel proud and privileged to have the opportunity to share with Con Dedes a vision to bring a new hospitality experience to Sydney's waterfront," said Langman.
Having established his successful six boat yard operation across two states over the past three decades, Langman branched into hospitality in 2007 with the purchase of the Kermandie Hotel on the Huon River, Tasmania, and Sydney Harbour's famous Rosman Ferries the following year.
Now he has upped the ante, going into business with the Dedes Group which operates other well-known Sydney Harbour waterfront locations including Flying Fish, the Sydney Rowing Club and Kirribilli Club.
From 1st July, Deckhouse Cafe will operate daily for breakfast and lunch, offering uninterrupted harbour views and an a-la-carte menu prepared by Head Chef Samantha Lockrey who is loaded with experience having worked with some of Australia's most recognised executive chefs.
With its glass exterior, high ceilings, elegant interior, outdoor terrace and sweeping views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and city lights, Deckhouse will deliver a unique dining experience.
For those utilising the neighbouring boat yard facilities, Deckhouse offers the added convenience of an on-site cafe where the many workers who ply their trade can purchase a decent cup of coffee and a quality meal.
Guests can arrive on the doorstep of Deckhouse by private vessel utilising the wharf, or for a unique experience for larger groups such as bridal parties and corporate bookings, sister company Rosman Ferries can transport passengers aboard an historic Federation style ferry. Otherwise there's plenty of free on-site car parking at Clarkes Reserve.
Noakes Group has over the past five years invested heavily in the Woolwich Dock site, transforming it into a complete modern maritime centre providing an environmentally friendly maintenance and repair facility which uses the latest technology while carefully preserving the history of Sydney's working harbour heritage.
Murlan Noakes, a partnership between Robert Oatley, Iain Murray and Sean Langman, built Deckhouse while Noakes Group and the Dedes Group fitted out the function centre and will operate the business.
